A lovely visit with Karina at the club

It was great to see Karina again.  I invited her for tea at the club and then took her around to see the building.  She was very impressed.

Her English is very good.  She speaks Russian, Dutch and English.

We shared a butter tart with ice cream which was good as usual, plus we both had some herbal tea.

All in all, a lovely way to spend a few hours.

Me - relaxing.

Tonight I plan to meet other friends and spend time with them and tomorrow, of course, my children are coming from out of town and I have a lot of plans for them.

Busy days, but all good.

Plant time

I have finally almost finished looking after my many plants.  Some are so heavy that I cannot lift them but did what I could for them.

I love plants but every once in a while, they need specific care and this was their time for it.

Now starts the clean up in the kitchen.  Earth everywhere and clippings.  Have many clippings from the mother plants and hope I can find a home for some of them.

The Moses in the Cradle plant has done so well and I have so many pots of it around.

I also have been enjoying Miss Marple on DVD in between the work.  My friend Kevin took all my VCR's of Miss Marple, Poirot and several others I just love, and made DVD's for me.

I've had some nice news - three of my poems will be in The Thistle book put out by the Ontario Poetry Society.  I have sent them in to the publisher now and will look forward to seeing them come into print.

I have to also send in submissions for Tower Poetry's book and see if any of them will be accepted and one for TOPS.  The TOPS one is to be either on poetry or politics.  I think I will write about politics.

I have been at home for the last three days - taking a break from too much busyness outside.

The weather seems to becoming nicer right now so may head to the waterfront at some point.

My son-in-law and daughter will be coming for a nice visit this weekend so that will be great.

Thanks for dropping  by and have a good day.

VISIT TO SWISS CHALET IN BURLINGTON, ONTARIO

I love this tree and took several shots of it through our window

My friend Stella picked me up a little before 11 a.m. and we drove to Burlington.  Fortunately, we did not need to go near the Skyway Bridge which is out of commission for a few days due to an unfortunate accident.

From the pictures on the news, it looks badly damaged so it might take longer than anticipated to get it stable again.

We went on the highway and made good time.  There were very few people in the restaurant when we arrived which was great.  We spent a couple of hours just chatting and enjoying the food.

Stella - this is the best of the to photos I took

After our wonderful dinner, we drove over to another mall and went to Michael's.  The last time I was at Michael's was with Stella a year ago.  What an interesting store to go to.  I picked up only one thing, a pad to write on with magnets on the back for the frig.  It said half price and the price was $3.00 so I figured it was worth it as it had a pen with it as well.

When I got to the front to pay for it, it turned out there were further reductions and I paid only 20 cents plus 5 cents tax.

Cannot beat that price!

Stella had not finished her shopping so I asked the clerk to page her to tell her that I would wait for her at the front of the store where the bench is.

I had a great time people watching while I was waiting for her.  She drove me home and after that I needed to borrow more books from the library as it is closed on Monday due to the civic holiday and I only had two books left.  I am three quarters through with the one book and neither of them are very thick so I don't want to be without something to read!

All in all a good day, thanks to Stella.

Thanks for dropping by.

A VISIT TO THE CLUB

Jennifer and I
My friend Jennifer and I went to the club for tea yesterday afternoon.  As usual, it was lovely there.  We decided to split a butter tart and a cranberry butter tart on each plate which worked out well. It comes with ice cream.

We had a lovely visit and since this was her first visit to the club, I took her
around to see the art work and the many different rooms.

Here are some shots.

herbal tea for me, coffee for her - the butter tarts

We spent about two hours enjoying our tea and then it was Martini night.  Jennifer was unable to attend but another time I will invite her for that.

All in all, a lovely time visiting together.

Thanks for dropping by.

Our Eid picnic at the waterfront last night

I had prepared some yummy things and carried two picnic baskets down to the waterfront on my walker.

We sat at our usual picnic place at Pier 8.  It is out of the wind and sheltered.  It was the three of us or rather I should say the four of us, Zahra's disabled son cannot participate at all, but he is a presence there.

Rosie came down later on. Another friend was supposed to join us but I only got his message this morning when I checked my cell phone. It was dated for last night.

In any event, we all had a good time and ate to our fill.

Thanks for dropping by.

Our combined birthday celebration

My son and I met at Toby's in the mall.  We had a lovely chat and enjoyed a nice meal together.  Just to pass the time, we went to Fresh Nations as he finds that store a very interesting one. He had planned a BBQ for our mutual birthday celebration but the weather was not good enough so we ate in the restaurant.

He likes exploring Fresh Nations as there are products from all over the world.  He wishes it had been there when he lived down town.  He finds it cheaper than where he goes now which is good to hear.

All in all, a nice little visit.  The rest of the day, I took it easy.

Thanks for dropping by.
