A wonderful day!

Today, at church, it was Confirmation Sunday where all the young people who had studied for two years were confirmed.

It was a lovely service which included communion, worship songs, two short sermons and the confirmation itself.

After the service, I had been invited to lunch at the Fruck's.  There were about 25 people there and my friends had it catered which was a very sensible thing to do.

Kathy drove me home about 4.  I will post some pictures once I download them.

All in all, a great day spent with nice people.

Thanks for dropping by.

ARTS APPRECIATION DINNER

What a grand occasion it was last night.  I thoroughly enjoyed it.

We  all met in the up lounge on the third floor for one unveiling which was a donation from the Husband family.  I was very touched that this wonderful winter scene was donated to the club upon the request of the now deceased member, Mr. Husband    As his son told the assembled guests, this was his favourite picture and one he cherished, particularly when he was so ill near the end of his life.  He wanted to share it with the other members so that they could enjoy it as well. Mr. Husband was a member for fifty years.

I, for one, will look at that picture remembering such a generous and kind thought turned into action.

After people socialized for a while, we all went into the Alexander Room for a delicious dinner. This room has been named after Lincoln Alexander who was an honorary member of the Hamilton Club.

Our fabulous Executive Chef Michael Vogt had prepared an exquisite dinner  of cold Vichyssoises, grilled  and roasted Orange and "Five 'spice Rubbed Cornish Game Hen on Thai style risotto with baby bok choy glazed with a soy ginger caramel.

For desert, we had a raspberry custard tart which was absolutely heavenly.  Coffee was served as well.

During the event, speeches were made by members of the Arts Committee  which explained about the work of the new acquisitions by Gerald Gladstone, a Canadian artist who was born in 1929 and died in March 2005.

I have taken a shot of the menu and fancy little purse which my friend Saba brought me once from  Pakistan.  It is just big enough that a comb, kleenex and my keys fit in.

Linda and Kelly walked me home which I appreciate very much.

Here are the shots I took.

Thanks for dropping by. Have a great day!

What a surprise I got this afternoon when I opened my email!  A friend let me know that the lady who had the 75th birthday party is now in the hospital.

I had sent her an email on the Sunday and told her what a nice party it was but did not hear from her so figured she was just tired out from her party and taking a break.

I never dreamed that she was in the hospital.  I hope to go and see her on Friday or even Thursday if my student cancels due to March break.

It was such a lovely party with many well wishers.  I knew everybody except for two people which was nice.  It was a very good occasion.  Her son Ron had put together a picture show on a DVD and he has told me how to do it.  That will be my next project!  I just loved it. Starting from a small child and life as it carried on was how he did it.  A wonderful idea, I was in several of the shots and as it happens, I had taken quite a few of the pictures that he had chosen.

The grandchildren put on the party but of course, Mom and Dad had a great deal to do with it.

It was good to see so many mutual friends and have the time to chat with them.

Today has been a little frustrating for me, trying to unblock some pictures which are preventing me from sending them through Live Mail.  So far, I have not succeeded even with the help of two lovely people at Cogeco.

My son said he would come at some point and try and fix it.  I wrote down each step in case it did not work and they were all logical steps which I could follow and did follow, but the problem remains.

Perhaps tomorrow will be better on the technical side of things.  I am going to start taking photos with my digital camera of my old childhood photos and young adulthood etc. etc.

It sounds like a great project to pass down to my children eventually.

Thanks for dropping by.

My latest design in jewellery making

I haven't touched jewellery making for quite some time but now am back into it.

I have a 75th birthday party to go to on Saturday and want to make a necklace to reflect the sweater that I will wear plus, of course, matching earrings.

I just finished another design -chocker length and in pink and tiny stones.  I think it looks very pretty and is for a specific person who chose the colours.

Here is a picture of it.

The tiny stones were a little difficult for me to use but I managed.  I hope the lady will like it.

I have a few nice occasions coming up.  The Women of Distinction Awards Gala at Carmen's Banquet Hall where a friend of mine is a nominee and I have received an invitation. I know two of the ladies who are nominees.  One is my friend Linda and the other is an Iraqi Canadian young woman.

Also the Chairman's Black Tie Event is coming up and I am on the invitees list.  That is very formal.

I have received an invitation to a Cultural Pot luck from the LI NC programme and will go to that as well.  I went last year and enjoyed it.

Now that the nicer weather is coming (hopefully) I will start going to more places and doing more.

This winter was a very, very cold winter and so I hardly went out except to go to the mall and the library or to grocery shop.

I can hardly wait till the water unfreezes and once again, I can spend time at the wonderful waterfront here in Hamilton.

Thanks for dropping by and have a good day.
