HAPPY EASTER EVERYBODY WHO CELEBRATES

A Stressful start to the day, a nice finish though
I am cat sitting for a wonderful cat called Oliver. It is so great to have him here for two weeks while his family are in Florida on March break.
We are getting along fabulously and he is a neat little cat. The only problem was the litter box and I tried to change it yesterday and some of the clamping litter went into the kitchen sink. It was too heavy for me. My whole sink plugged up and nothing would shift it. I talked to my son via internet and he went to get a snake (a plumber thing) and came and fixed it. I am so thankful as to call a plumber is very expensive, especially on the weekend.
It took me a long time to clean up from that horrible mess but finally I did and Ken, my son, dropped me off at Princess Point as it was a gorgeous day. I took a few pictures while I was down there. I met so many nice people on the trail and everybody was friendly.
People walking their dogs, families walking together, single people sitting alone and staring at the water - a very tranquil scene which I really needed after such a stressful day.
Oliver - a wonderful cat |
Finally, it was time to go from Princess Point and I got on the bus and came home. They have removed the bench there near the bus stop and there is half an hour wait for the bus. Not great. I may have to take my walker down there as it is too hard on me to stand that long. I really hate to though as it will get all muddy.
Oh well, let us see if the HSR or the city puts up another bench.
Thanks for dropping by.

Some new things happening
I have been cat sitting for Oliver, Laura and little boys cat for a week now and Oliver feels very much at home.
He is a real nice cat and I have trained him to go on newspapers and he does not mind at all. That will save Laura a bundle of money in the future.
On Wednesday my son and I went up to the SPCA to look and interact with Bootsie, an 11 year old cat who has been through a great deal of trauma. We sat and talked with her through the open cage and no matter what we did, she did not want to come out to even say hello.
Animals usually like my son but Bootsie just did not react in any way to either of us.
Sadly, we had to leave her behind but I found out that the SPCA is a non-kill shelter so eventually she will find a new home.
We came home Gemma, a short haired cat who is 7 1/2 years old. Up until now, Gemma is still hiding under my bed but that will change once she feels safe.
She is eating and drinking and using her litter box and once in a while, especially at night, I hear a gentle meow from under the bed.
I think when Oliver goes home on Thursday night, Gemma will explore her new home and feel more comfortable.
Oliver tries to sneak in to meet her but the one time he went under the bed, he hissed at her and so I had to remove him.
It would be nice if they could become buddies but it may not happen this time.
I haven't been able to take a picture of Gemma as yet. Hopefully in a few more days, she will get braver and come out.
Thanks for dropping by.

An update
Not very much going on right now. The weather is up and down, with snow, then melting, but still lots of snow around.
I have been going to my two events at the library, the first one for singing and the other for writing.
The writing one, in particular, has helped me a great deal to break the writer's block I have had for about a year now.
I just love that class.
I'm also enjoying the singing group as well.
I borrowed All in the Family DVD's and am having many days of enjoyment from them. I just love them. Brings back many memories of another time.
In about five more days, I shall be cat sitting for a mature cat called Oli for 14 days while his family goes on vacation. I really am looking forward to that.
I have decided against a bird due to the way this place is heated. It is with a hot air furnace and first a cold blast of air comes out, then a warm blast of air. Birds are not able to handle drafts so this place is out for a bird.
My son and I will go to a shelter and pick out a mature cat who needs a home once Oli's family gets home.
I will meet Oli for a short visit tomorrow afternoon. I want to make sure he will be comfortable with me before he comes here for the two weeks.
Thanks for dropping by.
